Fall is beautiful. It always reminds me of college (which I shared in a post, Monday Musings: The Magic of Fall) in the most sentimental ways. With kids, I love walks through our neighborhood, carving pumpkins, and Halloween candy!
Fall is full of senses--and all five come through in robust ways throughout the season.
Sight: Of course, fall leaves in their vivid hues are the most obvious evidence of fall in the Midwest. With steady rains, these colors are at their brightest.
Sound: Fall football and leaves crunching come to my mind first. But as the nights get cooler, we start to hear a train going through town that we can't hear during warmer months.
Feel: The air gets colder and breezes blow the fallen leaves around. With the chill, we get to wear our cozy layers and wrap up in blankets!
Taste: Caramel apple is my favorite taste of the season, and I enjoy it in its truest form, but also in homemade donuts and other sweet treats.
Smell: The smells of fall are so varied. From the sweet cinnamon of baked goods and cider to the scent of smoky firepits in backyards around the neighborhood, they all evoke coziness.
We just came out of a hot, humid weekend, but I know these senses are just on the horizon ahead of us!
