It's Monday--the start of a work week for many, or at the very least the end of the leisurely weekend and into more structured time. It's five days of camp, meetings, appointments, workout routines, evening practices and more. Unless you're on vacation of course (and if so, enjoy these next several days!).
Sometimes when I'm in the thick of the rush from one scheduled event to the next, I'm having a blast! I love watching my kids participate in their activities, and I enjoy my coworkers when I'm in the office. A long, hectic day usually has a lot of highlights for me.
However, in between all the activities or sometimes when I have days and days of intensely scheduled time, I just feel emotionally exhausted! So, I did something really simple and started keeping a list of little things I can do when I need a quick pick-me-up. They are all healthy options for turning up the positivity and intentionally practicing happiness. Here are a few of mine:
Take a walk
Clear some clutter
Work on a puzzle
Go to bed early
Put my phone away
Get a car wash
This list would look different for every individual. While taking a short walk can be an effective boost for me, you may need yoga or an intense run to feel re-energized. I encourage you to write down when you do something simple that gives you a quick boost of positivity that can be replicated in a moment when you may need it. Then, you can keep this practice of generating happiness going into the future.
It's a busy life many of us lead, and sometimes we need those helpful techniques to get to the next weekend without burnout, exhaustion or feeling fully drained.
