We all know that this is an incredibly difficult time. It's an election year, wars are raging, and natural disasters have caused incredible devastation. I am not one to stick my head in the sand, and I like to keep updated on current events. However, when I find that I've exhausted the positive energy that I can put towards any given scenario, it's better for my mental health to find outlets of positivity. Here is where I turn (hint: it's not my phone!):
Art. I've been crocheting scarves in the evenings to keep off my phone.
Lighthearted tv shows: Emily in Paris and Bad Monkey are great options!
Read a good book.
Take a walk.
House projects. I've been taking on little annoying projects like touching up trim and replacing light bulbs. We will be ready to host this fall!
Podcasts. Stuff You Should Know and Happier with Gretchen Rubin are two favorites.
Go thrift shopping.
Clean out a closet. You will feel so accomplished when you're finished!
Eat ice cream.
Sit outside with a cup of coffee.
Those are the things that are working for me. I keep them on repeat and do many of them every day! They are keeping me grounded during what feels like a very turbulent time. I hope you can find what works for you.
