Tuesday Morning Tidy: 12 Months of Tidy Month 2, Part 1

Writer's picture: FayFay

If you're following along with my 2025 project, 12 Months of Tidy, I'm diving quickly into month two! Last month was probably the biggest space I'll tackle this year--the basement. This month, it's probably the smallest--our guest bath. It's also the kids' bathroom, and it's on our second floor (so is actually seen pretty infrequently by guests).

As I did last month, I'm focused on three key steps to guide the process in each space:

  1. Serious clear, clean and repair. Identify any materials needed in advance to make this possible.

  2. Assess how we use the space for making improvements.

  3. Identify ways to maintain it more easily going forward.

In this post, I'll focus on the first topic--Clear, Clean and Repair. In advance of starting on the bathroom, I made sure to have some materials ready:

  • Trash bags

  • Deep cleaning supplies

  • Caulk

  • Mold Stain Remover

  • New shower curtain liner

  • New shower grip strips

Clear

Over the next week, I'll trash, donate and relocate anything not serving a purpose in this bathroom. Since it's a small space, a grocery bag for each should be just fine.

Once everything is clear and sorted, cleaning begins.

Clean

This bathroom gets a regular cleaning weekly. This month, I will be scrubbing the tile floors and grout, wiping baseboards, cleaning the cabinets and vacuuming out the drawers.

Repair

The shower/tub is all in one, so it's pretty easy to maintain. However, the caulk has some mold stains which I will treat with this stain removing gel. Then I can go back in and re-caulk areas that need repair.

The shower grip strips on the floor of the tub are coming up, so I'll also remove those, clean any residue and replace them.

The fun stuff in this space will happen after the cleaning and repair! Stay tuned later this month for more.
