Last year, as a holiday gift, we received a great little book called Cocktails with a Twist by Kara Newman. It is broken down into 21 main beverage categories, including Irish Coffee, Martini, Old Fashioned and so on. Within each of these sections are a variety of recipes based on this primary drink.
The recipe I'm sharing today, the Champagne Cocktail, is under the mimosa section. It features no juice, and is a fun little twist on a glass of New Year's bubbly.
Champagne Cocktail
1 sugar cube
3 or 4 dashes Angostura bitters
Champagne or other sparkling wine, chilled
Place the sugar cube on a saucer and soak with the Angostura bitters. Add the cube to a coupe or flute of Champagne. The drink will foam up.
Cheers to 2022!
