I made this delicious French toast recipe on Father's Day. It had been at least a year since I made it last, but I was reminded of how much my family enjoys it. It's quick and easy.
Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 4 Tablespoons of butter
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 6-8 pieces of white, wheat or brioche bread
- warm maple syrup
Directions:
In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg (optional). Whisk together the eggs, milk and vanilla and then combine the dry mixture; mix all together. Pour it in a shallow pie dish.
Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip the slices of bread into the egg mixture; fully coat on both sides. Fry the slices in the skillet until golden brown (on both sides). Serve with warm syrup.
