I'm over all the post-holiday stuff that's invaded my house. It's the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, which means I'm operating in cleaning/tidy mode. First, let me say I'm not stellar at organization. I consider myself organized, but I don't have a strong interest in using a particular method of organization in my closet, pantry or drawers. I generally go with a system that works for me. It's not perfect but neither am I!
I do enjoy following social media accounts that offer tips and aesthetic pictures featuring home organization, but I haven't yet read popular books or watched highly recommended television series on the topic. So, if you're a novice at home organization or just looking for a couple easy tidying and re-organization projects, this post is for you!
So.Many.Legos! My youngest loves them and got a slew of them for Christmas. In an effort to keep them off my floors, organized by color and in a particular spot (because I believe everything has its place), I found this amazing organizational system that I highly recommend for any small toys, such as Mini Brands, LOL toys, Shopkins, etc. They stack and attach. The entire 1,500 piece Classic Lego set fit into it. I plan to purchase a few more of these containers.
I have a teen and a tween so bathroom organization is a struggle. If I tell them to organize a certain way it usually doesn't last long so I encourage them to come up with their own methods. My oldest has repurposed her Birch Box subscription boxes and I love it. Birch Boxes are sturdy and decorative so they make for excellent compartments for cosmetics. If you have any small leftover boxes, you may want to consider this concept for your home.
I struggle to keep my Gmail inbox organized and manageable. Each year after the holiday season, I have thousands of unread mass emails from retailers. My next post-holiday reorganization project is my inbox. I've researched apps and software and I'm considering Mailstrom, Unroll.me and Clean Email. Have you used any of these or another service? I'd love to know your thoughts!
I hope you find these organizational tips helpful to you as we usher in a new year!
